Is It Safe To Take Protein Supplements For Bodybuilding?

The protein supplement might be harming your body more than you know.
Proteins in our diet contains amino acids that are release in our gut and then use by our bodies to build new proteins. L-norvaline is one of the hundreds of amino acids that are not normally use to make proteins in humans. In recent years the popularity of dietary supplements to enhance strength and muscle performance has increased. Many supplements now contain lots of unusual amino acids that can do harm.

“Protein requirements are higher in very active individuals and proteins are consider to improve and increase performance. But now in addition to the normal protein building amino acids other ‘non-protein’ amino acids are being taken”.
According to researchers, some non-protein amino acids are toxic because they have mimic protein amino acids which can harm our body.

Some plants also release non-protein amino acids into soil to kill other plants. So that they can access to all nutrients. Chemical warfare among plants is a well-known phenomenon. Since there was evidence that L-norvaline has an anti-microbial and herbicidal activity we examined its toxicity in human cells. L-norvaline, it might initially allow cells to produce more energy. But after a while the machinery of the cell that generates the energy will be damaged. People are taking supplements such as this without really knowing much about what the long-term consequences might be.

I’m not opposite to the use of protein supplements because I think “high-protein diets” are dangerous. Actually, I think the vast majority of people would benefit from eating more protein. Furthermore, I acknowledge that drinking a protein shake is an easy and convenient way to boost one’s protein intake. My point isn’t that you should throw out your protein powder if you are dependent on supplementing in order to get enough high-quality protein into your body every day. Rather, my point is that you are best off getting all of your protein from real, minimally processed food.
